The appliance runs on the company's StorNext 5 file system for improved deduplication rates and data access. DXi6900 is Quantum's first system to take advantage of the performance and scalability improvements in StorNext 5, which uses multithreaded CPU operations.
The system supports NAS, OpenStorage and virtual tape library interfaces. The DXi6900's iLayer Intelligence software provides monitoring, granular diagnostics and detailed resource utilization reporting while providing a topology-based view of the environment.
The DXi6900 offers WAN-based replication to Quantum's Q-Cloud Protect service for off-site data protection. Replication is achieved with patented, variable-length deduplication and direct integration with Q-Cloud Protect. The system also supports 4 TB self-encrypting drives to provide military-grade AES-256 bit encryption security for data at rest and moving across the network.
