Backup data archives
Traditional backup platforms are not suited for archival data storage. An archive differs from a backup because the data may not be used for months or even years, but must be accessed quickly when needed. Files can be archived to any disk storage system. Recently content-addressed storage (CAS) has appeared to support archiving efforts.
