NetApp unveils two caching systems Network Appliance Inc. (NetApp) announced two new midrange Web page caching systems this week that it says are more secure than previous systems. The NetApp C2300 and C3300, according to NetApp, can be used for Internet access and security, business applications acceleration for remote users, and Internet streaming and video. The C2300 has 1 GB of RAM and scalability from two to six internal disk drives; the C3300 has 2 GB of RAM and scalability from two to 20 drives.
EVault targets securities industry EVault Inc. has announced the availability of a compliance and data protection software package aimed at securities firms. Intransa lands OEM deal in India Intransa Inc. announced that it has entered into a software license/ OEM partnership with India-based HCL Infosystems Ltd. According to the agreement, Intransa's StorControl IP SAN software will run on HCL Global Line servers. StorControl is a Java-based management GUI application that includes a volume manager for managing and configuring iSCSI targets as well as the ability to integrate third-party snapshot services, such as Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy Service and Oracle's RMAN.
McData extension products work with IBM arrays McData Corp. announced that its line of distance extension products, the result of its recent acquisition of CNT, have completed interoperability testing with IBM's disk arrays. McData's new extension products, the UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) and the UltraNet Edge Storage Router will support the IBM TotalStorage Resiliency DS6000 and DS8000 series. McDATA's USD-X and UltraNet Edge can also be used with IBM's Enterprise Storage Server systems running both Metro Mirror and Global Mirror copy services using FC or XRC services using FICON remote disk mirroring for creating tiered storage configurations.
