Storage Clips: Sepaton buddies up with IBM

The VTL maker was certified with Tivoli Storage Manager and announced itself as an IBM partner; ADIC added SMI-S support to its enterprise tape library.

Sepaton buddies up with IBM
Virtual tape library (VTL) maker Sepaton, Inc. announced that its S2100-ES2 VTL has successfully passed compatibility testing with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and separately has received IBM TotalStorage Proven qualification. Sepaton has also been named an official IBM Business Partner.

ADIC library supports SMI-S
ADIC announced that its flagship enterprise tape library, the Scalar i2000, has been certified by the Storage Networking Industry Association under the Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) standard. SMI-S support means that IT departments using any storage resource management tool that supports the specification's tape library profiles can discover and manage its Scalar i2000 libraries in any location. The ADIC Scalar i2000 is the first tape library to announce this certification.

U.K. financial firms hold BC exercise
Some 80 firms across the U.K., together with the Bank of England, HM Treasury, the Financial Services Authority and consultants KPMG and Crisis Solutions, participated in a country-wide business continuity (BC) exercise. The City of London Police, the Metropolitan Police, City of London Corporation, Canary Wharf Management and the London Resilience Team were also involved in planning the imitation disaster scenario the financial firms responded to.

Adaptec updates software
Adaptec announced version 4.0 of its GuardianOS operating system that comes standard on its Snap Server NAS solutions. New features include an easier-to-use graphical user interface and Unicode support. The latest version of GuardianOS also features upgraded software applications, including the latest release of Computer Associates' eTrust antivirus and BakBone's NetVault backup software, as well as a 500 GB VTL license at no additional charge.

Kano qualifies HighPoint
Kano Technologies Corp., which makes external SATA drives for Apple Macintosh and Windows systems, announced the HighPoint Technologies RocketRAID 2224 SATA II host adapter has been qualified for use with its X-Spand Pro products. The addition of the HighPoint host adapter means Kano can now offer RAID-0/1/5/10 support for both Mac and Windows on its systems.

Software maker chooses Revivio
Revivio announced that software maker SAS has chosen its continuous data protection product to protect its business critical data and applications.

PMC-Sierra, StorLink work on low-cost NAS
StorLink Semiconductors today announced PMC-Sierra Inc. has licensed its Centroid NAS technology for simple, low-cost network storage and networked entertainment applications. The new Multi-Service Processor (MSP) devices -- MSP2200, MSP2202, MSP2204 and MSP2206 -- will be added to PMC's current line of Voice over Internet Protocol products, and are aimed at home networks.
