StorageTek upgrades mainframe storage Storage Technology Corp. (StorageTek) unveiled the newest entry in its FlexLine V-Series Shared Virtual Array disk storage family -- the V2X4f for mainframe environments. Customers with existing FlexLine V2Xf systems can upgrade them to 23 terabytes (TB) virtual capacity (from current 11.5 TB) and enhance their performance up to 40% with the new IPX5 processor cards, StorageTek said.
Luminex signs mainframe encryption partnerships Luminex Software Inc. announced that its Virtual/BLUE 3490 mainframe tape gateway can be combined with both NeoScale Systems Inc.'s CryptoStor and Decru Inc.'s DataFort FC-series encryption appliances to provide direct-to-tape encryption of mainframe data.
McData offers OpenTrunking for FICON McData Corp. announced that its OpenTrunking load-balancing software will work with IBM System z9 and eServer zSeries mainframes running Enterprise Operating System 8.0. University of California chooses OnStor OnStor Inc. announced that its Bobcat NAS gateway was selected by the University of California, Merced, over a Network Appliance Inc. solution. Data Domain granted patent Data Domain announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted it patent number 6,928,526 for its DD400 disk backup appliances. Data Domain said it has 10 more patents pending for its appliances.
