BakBone NetVault: Backup achieves VMware certification
BakBone Software announced that its flagship data protection solution NetVault: Backup is now certified by VMware. The NetVault: Backup VMware Plugin gives storage administrators automatic integration with supported devices, including a virtual tape library (VTL), storage area network (SAN), NDMP or locally attached drives. It offers greater granularity for Windows on VMware by allowing administrators to back up and restore individual files within virtual machines and allows storage administrators to create comprehensive, flexible backup policies without the need to understand VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) internals.
Bocada announces new plug-in for Bocada Enterprise
Bocada Inc. announced the availability of a new plug-in for its Bocada Enterprise that enables data collection from any data backup application that allows job information to be extracted to a .csv file. Once the backup activity information is automatically imported to the Bocada Enterprise database, users can view a subset of reports including success/failure, trending, service-level agreement (SLA) and billing reports. Full management functionality, including the ability to create zones, automatically publish reports to users and schedule updates through the Bocada Enterprise Administrative Console, is available.
FalconStor introduces HyperTrac Backup Accelerator for VMware Consolidated Backup
FalconStor Software Inc. introduced HyperTrac Backup Accelerator for VCB. HyperTrac technology for VMware environments integrates with FalconStor Network Storage Server (NSS), an open-storage virtualization and provisioning platform that provides data protection and disaster recovery solutions for the VMware platform.
The FalconStor HyperTrac technology for VCB extends FalconStor NSS services to VMware Infrastructure by optimizing VCB backups in order to minimize the impact on virtual machines and the storage servicing those environments.

Syncsort announces Backup Express 3.1
Syncsort Inc. released Backup Express (BEX) 3.1, which is a scalable data protection product for small- to midsized businesses (SMBs) and larger enterprises. The new release aims to provide customers deploying server virtualization with capabilities to meet the data protection requirements of the new environments.
The BEX 3.1 data protection architecture reduces the data being transferred to only blocks that have changed, and this speeds up virtual machine backups. With BEX 3.1's multipurpose snapshot technology, each backup is a read-writable "full" backup. A single BEX console manages the backup policy scheduling and the rapid restores of both virtual and physical machines.
