PEER 1 chooses EMC Atmos as its new cloud storage service provider
PEER 1 Network Enterprises Inc. announced that it has chosen EMC Atmos as its new cloud storage service provider. PEER 1 chose EMC Atmos because of its capability to manage and distribute petabytes of information globally. Atmos also offers Web service APIs and data migration across all Atmos-based clouds.
PEER 1 will incorporate this technology in its Atlanta and San Antonio data centers. The company also hopes to incorporate EMC Atmos in its 10 GB SuperNetwork in 2010. Additionally, this new cloud storage service will also be available to customers of ServerBeach.

Symantec Corp. announced a new partnership with Wipro Tech., which will offer data loss prevention and data backup and recovery services. With the addition of Wipro Tech, customers may be able to reduce data risks, and create an environment where they can monitor, manage, and reduce data security incidents.
Analysys delivers SonicWALL's backup and recovery product to 50 businesses
Analysys, a provider of managed IT services, delivered SonicWALL's Continuous Data Protection (CDP) product to 50 businesses in the Washington D.C. area. SonicWALL CDP offers complete end-to-end data backup and recovery for customers, and features automatic transparent backups, user-directed restores and several disaster recovery options. Also, this CDP product can be fully managed by a customer's own operation center, or as a site-to-site storage service from client-owned devices.
Fifosys announces Fifosys Fortress, a new cloud-based service with automated and remote data backup
Fifosys announced a new cloud-based data backup service product, the Fifosys Fortress. The Fortress is an outsourcing data backup product/cloud-based service that stores and secures critical company data in a cloud that can be accessed in the event of a crisis. The Fifosys Fortress manages data throughout its entire lifecycle from its entry into the cloud to its exit and destruction from the cloud. The Fortress also has data reduction capabilities worked into its service -- only changes to data are backed up, reducing the volume of data being sent to the cloud in the first place.
