Spectra Logic T-Finity tape library is selected for 8 PB archive
Spectra Logic won the contract bid to archive computational research data for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). NCSA chose a nine-frame Spectra T-Finity tape library initially configured with 25 LTO-5 drives and 8,000 licensed media slots for its 8 PB archive. NCSA chose the T-Finity because NCSA’s research data archives increase by 75% each year on average. The T-Finity tape library enables NCSA to add capacity with additional media slots/frames. Disk wasn't considered because of the size of the archive.
