Microsoft to offer CommVault’s Simpana with Azure Cloud platform

Commvault says the product bundle is part of a deepening “strategic alliance” with the software giant.

Microsoft Corp. will bundle Commvault Simpana 9 Express with the company’s Azure Cloud platform for enterprise data retention needs, the backup software maker said this week.

Commvault said the product bundle is part of a deepening “strategic alliance” with the software giant which is focused on the Windows Azure cloud platform.

Commvault said the Azure/Simpana bundle offers 41 TB of standard Azure storage, or 62 TB of non-geo replicated, for a starting price of $50,000. There is also a 124 TB non-geo replicated option for $100,000, according to the company.

The Azure/Simpana bundle includes archiving and backup functionality for mid-sized and large enterprises, plus Simpana offers source-side deduplication, data encryption, reporting and chargeback capabilities, according to Commvault.
