Neartek announces VTL compression
Neartek Inc. announced that it has integrated Comtech AHA Corp.'s AHA362-PCIX GZIP compression board into its virtual tape library (VTL) and data management product. With the integration, Neartek's VTL product now offers hardware-assisted compression, which maintains performance and depending on the data, offers up to double the capacity.

CommVault finishes QiNetix updates
CommVault announced general availability of its new QiNetix Version 6.1 data management product, which includes three major additions. In two prior announcements related to the 6.1 release, CommVault announced two of the three new features, continuous data protection and data classification. CommVault completed the QiNetix 6.1 announcement series with the introduction of IQ Ops, a storage resource management tool. Specific features include:

  • Allowing software operations and processes to be restarted, resumed or resilient should network connectivity loss or device outages occur
  • An meta database that matches processing jobs with the device, priority and path resources that are required to run
  • Reduction in the number of backup jobs to shorten backup window
  • Failover and load balancing between clients and backup servers to ensure that processing gaps do not occur
  • The ability to assess, with the CommCell Readiness Check, the success rate of upcoming jobs and availability of storage devices to identify problems before they occur
  • IQ Ops also includes access to CommVault's e-Support services. The QiNetix 6.1 software is generally available today. Pricing is based on capabilities and configuration. For more information, click here. .

    EMC announces Documentum customer
    EMC announced that York International, a manufacturer of heating, ventilation, air- conditioning and refrigeration systems, deployed the EMC Documentum platform, along with Adobe Intelligent Document. The integrated product has replaced a paper filing system and "ad hoc" HTML forms with an automated process.
