Axcient announces new cloud backup service for SMBs

Axcient announces new cloud backup service for SMBs

Axcient Inc. announced the availability of the company's hybrid on-premise and cloud data protection and business continuity service. Axcient's pay-as-you-grow approach includes an on-premise data backup and replication appliance with offsite cloud storage and services. The Axcient service will be sold exclusively through the IT solution provider channel and is aimed at SMB customers with anywhere from 1 to 500 workstations or servers and 10 gigabytes to 10 terabytes of data.

Arkeia Network Backup version 8 now generally available

Arkeia Software announced general availability of Arkeia Network Backup v8.0, which includes the industry's first virtual appliance for backup. Arkeia Network Backup v8.0 supports backup deployments as any combination of virtual appliances, physical appliances and traditional software. Additional features in Version 8.0 include wiki-based documentation, an enhanced graphical user interface, simplified tape library management, and delivery of platform updates.

Corsair announces Voyager Port

Corsair announced the Voyager Port portable backup product for USB flash drives. The Voyager Port can transform a USB flash drive into a data backup solution, and has a one-button file backup feature. The Voyager Port requires no external power supply and features a USB 2.0 port for high-speed USB flash drives. The Voyager Port comes with data backup and recovery software NovaBackup 10.

Idealstor Launches 2.0 TB removable SATA disk

Idealstor, a manufacturer of removable disk-to-disk backup products, announced that the release of a 2 TB removable SATA disk for use with its line of removable disk backup devices. This new capacity disk can be used with any Idealstor backup system and offers a 500 GB increase in storage space per removable drive bay from previously available capacities.

Ixilix announces new data backup service

Ixilix announced today that it now offers disk-to-disk (D2D) backups as a service for new customers. The service had previously been restricted to Ixilix hosting and managed infrastructure clients. As part of the service, Ixilix offers secure offsite storage in one of its certified SAS 70 Type II data centers. Detailed pricing for the service has not yet been announced but is expected to start at under $1 per gigabyte per month, including the cost of hardware, storage and remote monitoring.

ParaScale unveils its Linux-based cloud software

ParaScale Inc., a cloud storage startup, announced the availability of ParaScale Cloud Storage (PCS) software. As a software-only solution that can be downloaded from the Web and applied to any standard Linux platform, PCS enables hundreds of commodity servers to be clustered together to act as a file repository with massive capacity and parallel throughput. PCS is currently being used by Blue Coat Systems, Carpathia Hosting, Sony Pictures Imageworks and Stanford Genome Technology Center.
