Tandberg Data introduces DAT tape drives and media

Tandberg Data announced it has started to sell DAT tape drives and media products through its global distribution channel. Tandberg Data is working closely with Hewlett-Packard on the release of DAT320 later this year. Now in its sixth generation, DAT offers an eight-generation roadmap.

Tandberg DAT tape technology is designed to protect SMB data, offering storage capacities up to 160 GB on a single cartridge. Tandberg DAT tape drives are available in 72 GB or 160 GB capacities, with different configurations (internal, external or rackmount) and interfaces (SCSI or USB). Tandberg DAT data and cleaning cartridges offer a limited lifetime warranty.

The DAT72 and DAT160 drives are now available through Tandberg Data's established channel of distributor and reseller partners. The DAT72 drive starts at approximately $499, and the DAT160 starts at $749.

Ardeo Logic announces Virtual Data Center Robot

Ardeo Logic announced the availability of vDCR, Virtual Data Center Robot, which it said is the first data backup product on the market to support VMware vSphere 4 vStorage technology. vDCR Backup and Restore features agentless VCB and vStorage API Backup; hot live guest virtual machine backup and cloning; file-level restore; and full, differential, and incremental data backup. vDCR Backup and Restore Server is available now; pricing starts at $499 per socket.

Arkeia announces general availability of Network Backup Version 8.1

Arkeia Software announced general availability of Arkeia Network Backup Version 8.1. The release is designed for hosting providers that seek to generate revenue by offering backup services to their customers. New in Arkeia Network Backup v8.1 are Custom Restore Objects (CROs) that allow administrators to assign restoration rights to end users. Also new in v8.1 is support for AIX 6, Fedora 11, NetBSD 5.0, OpenBSD 4.5,Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and Microsoft Windows 7.

Atempo and Exanet announce partnership

Atempo Inc. and Exanet announced a new technology partnership that certifies the compatibility of Atempo Time Navigator and Atempo Digital Archive (ADA) with Exastore Clustered NAS.

BakBone to introduce new disk-based capabilities

BakBone Software announced it will launch its innovative Open Data Protection platform this fall. With the roll out of its new disk-based platform, BakBone's customers can centralize their data protection operations under one pane of glass, even with third-party applications, while offering the ability to deduplicate their data using BakBone`s technology or using third-party data deduplication technology.

CloudBerry Lab enters second phase of beta testing for CloudBerry Online Backup

CloudBerry Lab started its second phase of beta testing program for CloudBerry Online Backup, its application that allows users to back up their data online to their Amazon S3 accounts. CloudBerry Backup is designed to leverage Amazon S3 online storage for disaster recovery and data backup. It is designed to work on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7. CloudBerry Backup is currently in beta testing and will be offered for free to students, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations.
