Thales Group releases CryptoStor Tape 3.0 appliance for backup encryption and key management

Thales Group announced its release of CryptoStor Tape 3.0, an appliance for data backup encryption and key management. CryptoStor Tape 3.0 protects data in several ways, supporting serial-attached storage (SAS), SCSI and Fibre Channel. It also supports the latest data backup and recovery systems and automates all tape encryption and key management functions to keep stored data secure and accessible.

Netc announces WatchDog tape tracking system

Netc announced the N*VISION RFID WatchDog tape tracking system with PassPort Technology. The WatchDog system is based on the N*VISION RFID storage media barcode label, and is designed to manage the movement of data tape and IT assets.

The PassPort Technology creates a list of data tapes to be tracked and monitored. As the tapes move through each checkpoint, media barcode labels are verified for accuracy and completeness. The system also has real-time security alerts and can read both one and two dimensional barcodes.

Continuent Inc. announces Continuent Tungsten 1.2

The Continuent Tungsten 1.2 offers three main functions for data backups: high availability, data protection and cloud operation. Its high availability feature has automatic failure detection and recovery and automatic master failover with a transparent switchover. Its data protection feature has integrated backup and restores and disaster recovery (DR) from data replication to a remote/cloud site. Its cloud feature maintains copies of a database by placing the database in a cloud so a copy of the data will always be on hand.

Continuent Tungsten runs on all Linux and Solaris platforms and in the Amazon EC2 cloud.

EMC's Data Domain ranks seventh in North America on the Technology Fast 500

EMC Corp. announced that Data Domain ranked number seven on the Technology Fast 500, Deloitte's ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. Rankings were based on revenue growth during a five-year period from 2004 to 2009. Data Domain's revenue grew more than 35,000 percent during this period, thus earning them the number seven slot.
