We have just one network appliance and operate in an NT environment. I would like to direct connect our tape library to a Network Appliance to simplify our backups but every backup package that includes NDMP costs $20K by the time you roll tape. We are a small outfit and the Network Appliance was a major purchase for us. I am willing to purchase an enterprise solution when we have more of an enterprise. Can you point me at a smaller scale solution?
I try not to make specific product recommendations because I wouldn't know enough about your situation to feel comfortable. If you don't want to spend the money for complete solutions with the software required to control a library, you'll be relegated to more simplistic solutions that require more human intervention. I'm sorry I'm not much help here. I suggest you talk with Network Appliance. They can give you example solutions that might meet your price limits.
