Is it cost-effective to implement iSCSI on a tape drive?

Is implementing an iSCSI protocol on an expensive device such as a tape drive (with or without autoloaders) cost-effective?
Thank you for the question. There are a variety of iSCSI tape arrays already available on the market from a variety of vendors. These solutions are mostly available using a bridge that goes from iSCSI to SCSI or Fibre Channel depending on the native format of the tape array. IMHO, this will change over time as direct iSCSI interface devices become available in the market.
