Do you know of any Web-based reporting tools available for StorageTek tape silos and libraries that measure performance and utilization?
StorageTek offers a software package called Library Admin Software for its L-Series libraries. This tool allows users to monitor and administer L-Series libraries from a Web-based Graphical User Interface. The software enables users to view error conditions, tape device and media usage statistics or locate media cartridge in the library among other things. My limited exposure to the product does not allow me to tell you whether or not the tool can report tape device performance statistics. That being said, most enterprise level backup software products can provide this type of information. You will be able to get a little more information about the product's functionality by contacting StorageTek. In a worst-case scenario, you know you can gather the information you need by using a combination of the Library Admin and your backup software's reporting capabilities.
