Bronze winner in the Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com 2014 Products of the Year Backup and Disaster Recovery Software and Services category.
With EDGE Platform 4.1.4, Code42 Software Inc. combined its CrashPlan and SharePlan products. The merger lets users deploy and manage endpoint backup and secure file sync and share from a single platform.
This update is part of a larger trend of convergence between backup and other IT disciplines. However, it is unique because Code42 Software combined two fully baked products rather than adding complementary but limited functionality to one or the other.
According to Code42, the software can scale to more than 100,000 devices per single deployment and be deployed on the premises, in the cloud or in a hybrid configuration. Users can run backup and sync and share simultaneously, or each product by itself.
There is no capacity limit on backups, and dynamic data balancing optimizes available storage use and bandwidth between servers and data centers. Compression and multi-threading increase performance, while a byte-level differential transmits and stores only new information.
The EDGE Platform scored highly for ease of use and manageability and for value. One judge said the product is a "nice merger of endpoint protection and file sync and share. The problem it solves has many market solutions, and including file sync with backup can reduce cost and increase security."
Pricing for the EDGE Platform starts at $5 per user, per month.
