Storage Clips: Dell reports strong storage growth

Dell storage up 20%, but overall profit takes a hit; BakBone loses listing on Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board; Sonasoft offers backup for the small biz.

Dell reports strong storage growth
Dell's products and services experienced significant growth in its fiscal fourth quarter of 2005, as the company reported worldwide revenue growth from servers and storage systems up 20% year over year. Sales of EMC storage networking equipment, which it resells under its own brand, grew 46%. Net income at the world's largest personal computer maker fell 11% to $667 million while revenue for the quarter was $13.5 billion, up 17% from a year ago.

BakBone loses listing
A panel of the NASD Board of Governors has denied BakBone Software's request to continue having common stock quoted on the Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB) because of the company's failure to be on time with its reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Shares of BakBone Software will stop trading on the OTCBB at the open of market on this Monday, Feb. 14, 2005. Shares of BakBone Software will continue to trade in the United States on the Pink Sheets through designated market makers.

Sonasoft offers backup for the small biz
Sonasoft Inc. announced the availability of SonaSafe Point-Click Recovery Solution for small businesses. The new offering includes point-click recovery for Exchange, SQL and Windows File Systems. Users also have the option of buying SonaSafe Small Business Suite that provides backup and recovery for, it claims, anything to do with Microsoft databases, e-mails, files and applications.
