SanDisk announces Ultra Backup USB flash drive

SanDisk has introduced a new family of SanDisk USB flash drives, including a backup USB flash drive that activates backup software by touching a button. The SanDisk Ultra Backup USB portable flash drive is the first offering of the company's new SanDisk Ultra USB product line. With capacities of up to 64 GB, the SanDisk Ultra Backup USB flash drive is designed to protect users' photos, music, videos, personal and business documents. No software installation is needed. The drive protects onboard digital content with a dual layer of security, including password-protected access control and AES hardware-based encryption.

Fujitsu introduces lightweight HandyDrive hard disk drive

Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc. introduced the HandyDrive MMH2 UB series of 5400 RPM external hard disk drives, which feature a 2.5-inch design with up to 500 GB capacity. The new drives weigh less than six ounces, include a USB 2.0 interface, offer software support in 11 languages, and provide data backup for mobile and home users.

The Fujitsu HandyDrive bundles utility software that allows users to manage partitions, a password lock tool that protects data if a drive is lost and Acronis True Image Personal HDD software. The Fujitsu HandyDrive series is available in the first quarter of 2009 through retail and online stores.

Rebit unveils multi-PC backup and recovery software

Rebit Inc. announced a new, multiple-PC version of its automatic backup and recovery software, available on CD January 30.

Capable of backing up a six PCs, Rebit's multi-PC software will manage the entire backup process across all PCs. The software can be password-protected on an individual PC to keep information private between PC users. Rebit's software includes a file deduplication feature so only one copy of the operating system, applications, and other duplicate user files across multiple PCs is stored on the backup drive, saving storage space across multiple PCs.

Instant PC Recovery is announced by CMS Products

CMS Products Inc. released its "Instant PC Recovery" product, BounceBack Ultimate. BounceBack Ultimate enables users to instantly recover their PC after a hard drive crash. BounceBack Ultimate allows users to continue working with no data loss from their external USB-connected hard drive, allowing them to recover or replace the internal system drive at a later time.

BounceBack Ultimate offers users its "Instant PC Recovery" to restart its Windows-based PC via the USB connection to an external hard disk. The product delivers file-level AES 256-bit encryption. It supports Windows XP and Vista. Additional features include continuous data protection (CDP), application throttling, QuickRestore and open file backup support.
