Dantz stretches partner program

Backup software maker Dantz Development Corp., Orinda, Calif., has extended its Global Partner Network. The new participation level, called the Preferred Partner program, joins Premier and Associate memberships in providing for the needs of solution providers who sell Dantz software into small and medium sized businesses. Dantz said solution providers that join the Dantz Global Partner Network will be able to offer its backup software to their customers.

EVault boosts OS support

EVault Inc., a provider of online data protection and recovery software and services based in Walnut Creek, Calif., announced the availability of EVault InfoStage database backup plug-ins for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. The new application agent plug-ins build upon EVault's operating system support and extends the ability of EVault InfoStage to provide automated, disk-to-disk data protection and recovery, the company said. The EVault InfoStage Plug-In for Oracle is an add-on module to the overall EVault InfoStage software suite. The plug-ins are suited for organizations requiring enterprise-class Oracle database protection and recovery. EVault said the InfoStage Plug-In for Microsoft SQL Server is also an add-on module and provides enhanced, online application protection and recovery for mid-tier organizations. The plug-ins, priced at $750 and sold individually, are available directly from EVault or through its network of authorized resellers.

Exabyte library gets CA OK

Exabyte Corp., Boulder, Colo., announced that its Magnum20 LTO tape library has been certified for use with selected BrightStor storage management solutions from Computer Associates International Inc. (CA). The certification applies to CA's data availability solutions, including BrightStor ARCserve 2000 and BrightStor ARCserve Backup v9 for Windows and NetWare, as well as BrightStor Enterprise Backup software on Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, and Tru64 operating systems. The Exabyte Magnum20 tape library provides automated access to as few as 2 drives and 30 cartridges, but provides them with the ability to scale up to 8 drives and 150 cartridges slots without any additional hardware investments. When configured with all 8 tape drives and 150 cartridges, Magnum20 provides up to 30TB of capacity and throughput of up to 864GB/hr, Exabyte said.

NSI teams with Microsoft for business continuity

NSI Software Inc., Hoboken, N.J., launched a Business Continuity Program with the help of a little software company called Microsoft to educate organizations about data protection and high availability systems. As part of this program, NSI Software and Microsoft will host a series of educational events focused on leveraging replication technology and Microsoft's Windows Powered NAS devices for business continuity. The program includes NSI and Microsoft's joint participation at industry events and speaking engagements and NSI's participation in a 10-city road show with Microsoft and HP.
